What should I do in an Emergency?
Emergencies are stressful and frightening for your whole family. The most important thing you can do is to stay calm. If you're calm you'll be better able to assist your pet, and he or she will receive veterinary attention more quickly.
The first thing to do is make sure your pet is as safe and comfortable as possible. Please be aware that injured or ill pets may be aggressive due to pain. Extra care should be taken to safeguard people in contact with an injured pet.
The second step is to telephone your veterinarian. That way we can be prepared for your pet's arrival and ready for any treatment we may need to give immediately. Whether you're attending VRVS (3824 7788) or the AES (3423 1888) ALWAYS RING FIRST. That way your pet will get the best possible care.
During normal business hours (8am - 5pm Monday to Friday, and 9am - Midday on Saturday) please call Vienna Road Veterinary Surgery on 3824 7788. After hours, we refer all emergencies to the Animal Emergency Service. It is a dedicated emergency service, with after hours access to the specialist staff and equipment your pet might need - very different to a clinic that is merely open 24 hours. It is a short drive from Alexandra Hills to the Compton Road facility. The AES is the only other place our team members would ever take their pets. Click on the link above to be taken to the AES website for a map and directions, or telephone them on 3423 1888.
